His combination of Blues, Southern Rock, and Jam Band sensibilities have been thrilling audiences for over two decades. Alastair released the critically acclaimed 2017 record Dream Train and followed up in 2018 with Live From The 805. Alastair has been hailed as one of the best blues rock guitarists of his generation with his playing drawing comparisons to Eric Clapton, Robin Trower, Johnny Winter and many others. It was a very good omen and the two cemented a friendship within days. Fast track to the Sugaray Rayford Band: Aaron has played all the European tours, and a live album. With his gutsy passionate playing style Aaron is a perfect fit for the undeniable energy of the Sugaray Rayford Band, and at 6'5" both men stand shoulder to shoulder. Aaron performed and recorded with the great Amy Winehouse (Back to Black reissue album, official Rehab video, The BRIT Awards show, and The Jools Holland Show). While living in the New York area, he performed with high-end wedding bands such as Topaz and Black Tie Music. Later he also backed up and recorded with many singer-songwriters including Edie Carey, Meredith Levande, Steve Tannen (The Weepies), and Greg Tannen, with a focus on fretless bass. In the early 2000's Allen spent many years performing and recording with acclaimed Latin Jazz vocalist and percussionist Raphael Cruz. He performed on Cruz's star-studded release "Bebop Timba," which received a Grammy nomination in the Latin Jazz category in 2005. Moving to Portland, OR in 2007, he immediately found work in the vibrant blues scene. He spent many years working with Vizztone recording artist Kevin Selfe, as well as the Blues Music Award nominated ensemble The Insomniacs. His solid timekeeping work with these artists, as well as regional favorites Rae Gordon and Robbie Laws, gained the attention of the Cascade Blues Association which nominated him multiple times for the Muddy Waters Award for Bass Player of the Year. Today you can find Allen backing up soul man Sugaray Rayford, performing for audiences world-wide. Sugaray made his mark performing in the Tony Award winning play "Ain't Nuthin' But the Blues" and has since gone on to front his own high-energy blues and soul band. Danny Avila can ramp it up with the best, yet still retain a fluid movement that is polished and ported. Danny Avila was born May 1988 in Pasadena CA. Son of renowned B3 Organ blues master Hammond Sam Avila (Walter Trout)(Los Lobos) and nephew to bassist/producer John Avila (Oingo Boingo)(Neal Young)(Walter Trout), he has learned his lessons well. Danny’s influences spectrum eclectically from Freddie King to Hendrix, Duane Allman to Johnny Winter, Little Feat to Radiohead. As a child, Danny was raised in the ring of musicians in Los Angeles, being a 3rd generation musician. Grandparents Andy and Jennie Avila paved the way for music to flow in his family’s life, playing guitar and singing together at every family gathering. Danny first learned to play trumpet in grade school, joining the ensemble concert band, and later also joined the jazz band while learning bass at age 11. At age 16 the dream of being a musician was realized and by 17, bass was his life. Shortly after high school Danny made a change to join the 6 string slingers club (guitar) which led to the birth of the band Philosophy Of Soul with brothers Andee Avila (vocals & drums) & Supa Man (bass). Education continued with real-world experience at age 18, when he became the guitar tech and stage manager for his mentor, Walter Trout. In 2009 Danny joined Andy Frasco and the U.N. as guitar player, and sometimes bass player, soon after joined by his brothers Supa and Andee (currently still with Andy Frasco). In 2012, after about a decade of jamming with his musical family, they decided it was time to start a family band. The Avila Band was created of pure talent, a couple sets of brothers, John (bass) and Sammy (organ), Andee (drums) and Danny (guitar), their cousin, Liela (vocals), and a few honorary Avilas, including Ray Solis (percussion, RIP), and Jeff Waldon (sax). One can only be so lucky to catch one of their precious and rare local shows when the stars align and all musicians have the same weekend off from their busy tour/gig schedules. In 2017, the Imperial Crowns of Los Angeles invited Danny to play bass, taking him on tours in Europe. DJ brings the sweet soul of the Saxophone to the Sugaray Rayford Band. DJ began playing the Sax at 10 years old after he heard the iconic horn lines of Earth, Wind, and Fire. In high school, once he realized he needed a better Tenor Saxophone than his $200 student model, DJ got a job at 14 years old bussing tables at a Pancake House to buy the top of the line horn he always dreamt of. He still uses that same Sax to this day. DJ attended San Diego State University receiving an education in Music/Music Entrepreneurship & Business. He is currently pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering at San Diego State University. After being exposed to the violin, recorder, piano, guitar, and vocal elements at Oak Park Elementary School in sunny San Diego, California. He decided that trumpet would be the instrument for him in te 4th grade. Growing up listening to B.B. King, The Temptations, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, and many more, Julian developed a natural ear for soul music. Julian found his way into the Blues World in 2016. While studying Music Business at San Diego State University he was asked to hit the road with Earl Thomas in Switzerland. Following this tour he continued to play with Earl until late 2018. His father was a guitarist and when Sky was 4 he received his first drum kit. Together they spent 1980 jamming along to Motörhead’s Ace of Spades. Many of Sky’s favorite childhood memories include holding down rock grooves, train beats, and crisp country shuffles on the drums for his dad’s classic rock and country bands. In 1981, his life was forever changed when he saw Van Halen’s Fair Warning Tour. When Alex Van Halen stood up behind 4 bass drums and lit his gong on fire…the desire to drum intensified. Since then, Sky has taken inspiration from great drummers far and wide. The grooves of these cats keep the fire lit: Joe Morello, Gene Krupa, Elvin Jones, Clyde Stubblfield, John Bonham, David Garibaldi, Steve Wonder (yes! an epic drummer), Tommy Aldridge, Stephen Perkins, June Core, Stewart Copeland and John Shafer. His work as a featured vocalist under the Mannish Boys umbrella, both live and on their "Double Dynamite" release, made it abundantly clear that he was not only deserving of his own Delta Groove release, but that it was inevitable. "Dangerous" represents a cross section of classic and contemporary, originals and seldom-heard covers, all representing the truth at the core of Sugaray's blues soul. From the Son House classic "Preaching Blues" and post-war gems from Junior Parker, Gatemouth Brown and Pee Wee Crayton, to well-honed originals like Sugaray's own "Stuck for a Buck", "Need a Little More Time" and "I Might Do Somethin' Crazy", it's all killer, no filler.
